Knox County Warrant Records Knox County Warrant Records

Start with the citation itself, then call the court named on it. Knox County traffic warrants begin in the JP court for tickets written outside city limits, or in a municipal court for a city ticket. Keep the ticket close at hand. The court clerk is the one who can tell you whether a warrant is out. Have the citation number, case number, date, and court name ready when you call. Texas DPS OmniBase tracks only reported failure-to-appear or failure-to-pay citations, so it will not catch everything. A phone call alone does not count as an appearance or clear the warrant, so ask the clerk how to document the court's answer.

Knox County Traffic Warrants Explained

A traffic citation may lead to a missed-setting process when a person does not respond as required. After judgment and unpaid fines or costs, a court may use a capias pro fine. The exact label and timing must come from the issuing clerk; a due date is not always the same as a trial date.

Outside city limits, start with the Knox County JP. A citation issued within a city may belong to that municipal court even if the person lives somewhere else in the county.

Knox County Traffic Warrants From Citation to Capias

The usual lower-court sequence is citation, required response or court setting, possible failure-to-appear process, then fine-and-cost enforcement after judgment. A court may call the process an arrest warrant, bench warrant, or capias pro fine. The clerk can tell you which stage applies in a particular Knox County case.

Texas Chapter 45A governs justice and municipal procedure, including notice rules and capias-pro-fine hearings. A phone message does not replace the court's required appearance.

How to Check a Knox County Traffic Warrant

Knox County has no official public traffic-citation or warrant lookup. Call the JP at (940) 459-3181 for county cases. For Knox City or Munday, call the municipal court listed on the citation. Benjamin and Goree municipal contacts were not located in the current official directory reviewed, so verify with the city or courthouse.

If needed, ask the sheriff at (940) 459-2211 to identify the service route, submit a written request for existing law-enforcement records, or use DPS OmniBase at 1-800-686-0570 for a reported citation. The court remains the source for the warrant and its remedy.

  1. Read the issuing court and citation number from the ticket or notice.
  2. Call the JP for an outside-city matter, or the named municipal court for a city ticket.
  3. Give your name, date of birth, citation or case number, date, and city or precinct.
  4. Ask whether the matter is past due, an FTA, an arrest warrant, or a capias pro fine.
  5. Check DPS only for a reported FTA/FTP citation, then get the court's written instructions.

One Knox County JP Handles Traffic Warrants

The county lists one JP office at the Benjamin courthouse. It handles traffic and Class C matters within its jurisdiction, and its page gives the phone and second-floor location without an online lookup. If the citation says a city court, use that court instead.

The official JP page is the first stop for a county traffic record. It does not post bond amounts or accepted payment methods.

Inside a Knox County Traffic Warrant Record

No local public entry or number format was found. Ask the court to confirm the citation or cause number, issuing court, process label, unpaid balance if any, bond terms, status, and next court date. A license-renewal hold is a separate DPS record.

Munday and Knox City Traffic Warrant Contacts

The 2025 OCA directory lists Knox City Municipal Court at (940) 658-3313 and Munday Municipal Court at (940) 422-5220. Their courts handle city traffic and ordinance matters. No live citation portal or payment form was found for either city.

For a Benjamin or Goree city ticket, do not infer that no court exists because a directory search did not show an entry. Ask the courthouse or city for the current municipal contact.

Resolving a Knox County Traffic Warrant

Call the issuing court before paying or traveling. Ask whether you can pay, seek a plan or indigency option, request a new date, appear through counsel, post bond, or ask the judge to recall the process. Knox-specific payment methods, bond amounts, and walk-in instructions were not published.

  1. Confirm the exact process, balance, next date, and whether personal appearance is required.
  2. Ask which payment plan, indigency request, reset, or bond options the judge may approve.
  3. Follow the court's written directions and keep each receipt or order.
  4. Call back to verify warrant status, then check DPS separately if a citation hold was reported.

Warning: [15-30 word callout - the warrant is not recalled until the fine is paid or the person appears; an open traffic warrant can place a hold on a driver license or vehicle registration renewal.]

Knox County Benjamin and Goree Traffic Warrant Routing

The Comptroller confirms Benjamin and Goree as incorporated Knox County places, but the current official municipal-directory search did not surface a contact entry for either city. If the citation names one of those cities, ask the county courthouse or city government to identify the current court before relying on the JP contact.

Do not travel to the jail to resolve a city ticket without instructions. The county publishes no traffic-warrant walk-in window or bond counter.

Knox County Traffic Warrants, FTA, and License Holds

A traffic warrant is court process. An FTA or failure-to-pay report may also create a Texas license-renewal hold through DPS. The records are connected to the citation but are not interchangeable. The issuing court can explain the warrant; DPS can explain the reported hold.

Knox County Traffic Warrant Updates Take Time

Texas DPS says clearing a ticket may take up to seven business days after the court reports payment or compliance. Contact every court that reported a citation, keep proof of the court action, and check with DPS again if the notice remains.

The official DPS FTA/FTP FAQ explains the update lag.

Knox County traffic warrant status, DPS FTA and FTP update guidance

State reporting and the local court's warrant status are separate records, so verify both.

The official DPS program page explains the scope of the citation-compliance service.

That program concerns reported FTA or FTP citations; it is not a criminal-warrant roster.
